Loin is short, deep and well muscled. Coupling is placed between front and back parts of the trunk. Functions of lumbar department consist in transferring an impact from hind limbs to fore part of the dog’s corpus. At that movement of loin resembles a jerk of spring pushing the trunk forward. Ideally, coupling must be wide and powerful. Two hip bones framing lower limb girdle and sacral part of spinal cord form Rottweiler’s croup. Coxal bones are inclined to horizontal plane and slightly drawn back. Croup has rounded shape (due to the breed standard). In accordance with disposition of hip bones and rump, Rottweiler’s croup happens to be sloping or upright. Both are aberrations. Set of hind limbs is also important during evaluation of the dog’s exterior. Canting angle of hip bones towards the rump considerably influences the set. If this inclination is insignificant then the dog’s hind limbs may start straightening. Tail of Rottweiler is docked short, close to body, leaving one or two tail vertebrae. The set of the tail is more important than its length. When properly set it gives an impression of elongation of topline. When Rottweiler is exited or moving the tail is carried slightly above horizontal. The chest of the dog is broad, roomy and deep reaching to elbow with pronounced forechest and well sprung, oval ribs.
